These terms are short because the app is free software with no account and no service behind it.

The licence#

GeoTag Camera is free and open-source software, licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later (GPLv3). You may use, study, share and modify it under that licence. The full text is in the app under About & legal, and at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.html.

No warranty#

The app is provided as is, without any warranty, to the extent the law allows. This is part of the GPLv3 (sections 15 and 16). In particular:

  • GPS positions, addresses, maps, weather and times come from your phone, its location services, its geocoder and third-party map and weather data. They can be inaccurate or unavailable.
  • A passed verification shows that a photo's image and its signed location and time are unchanged since a key on some phone signed them. It does not prove who held the phone, that the phone's clock or GPS was right, or that the scene is what it appears to be.
  • Exports and reports are copies made for convenience. Keep the original photos if you need evidence.

Your responsibility#

  • Use the camera and location features lawfully: respect privacy, property and photography rules where you are.
  • You decide what you share. A shared photo carries its exact location and time in the image and in its metadata.
  • If you rely on photos for legal, contractual or official purposes, check what those processes accept.

Map and weather data#

Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), served by OpenFreeMap. Weather data is from Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0). Their own terms apply to that data.

Trademarks#

"GeoTag Camera" and its icon identify this project. Forks are welcome under the GPLv3, but please use a different name and icon so people can tell them apart.
